Nissan confirms 20,000 job cuts and plans to close seven plants

Nissan has confirmed plans to slash 20,000 jobs as it unveiled a wide-ranging cost programme that will see operations cease at nearly half of its production facilities. The Japanese carmaker said it would consolidate its vehicle production plants from 17 to 10 by fiscal year 2027.
