The dining world’s prestigious Michelin Guide on Wednesday named 15 restaurants in the Bay Area, Central Coast and Southern California as “new discoveries” — a prelude to the release later this year of its California stars.

The Michelin Guide has added four more San Francisco restaurants to its prestigious culinary catalogue. The French tire company’s publication on Wednesday named Chinatown's Four Kings, the Financial District’s Verjus, SoMa’s The Wild and the Embaracadero’s Prelude as four of 15 new additions to its list of top eateries in California.

On Wednesday, the Michelin Guide announced 15 new additions to its California guide, including seven Bay Area restaurants. While being added to the California guide does not mean a restaurant has earned a Michelin star or Bib Gourmand distinction,

The newest Michelin-approved restaurants hail from San Francisco, Oakland, Petaluma, Sonoma, and Carmel-by-the-Sea
