Barcelona will be taking La Liga to court yet again after the league has ruled that Dani Olmo and Pau Victor can't be registered until the summer due to Barcelona not having enough space under the La Liga salary cap following the expiration of their injury exemptions.

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has offered an update on the ongoing registration saga involving Dani Olmo. La Blaugrana kicked off 2025 with a 4-0 Copa del Rey win away at fourth-tier Barbastro ahead of travelling to Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup in the coming days.

Barcelona's financial situation has repeatedly put the club in difficult situations across the past few seasons, with the latest struggle seeing them potentially fail to register a big-money signing.

The Spanish league and Spain’s soccer federation again denied Barcelona’s request to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor for the rest of the season.

Barcelona have not given up hope that Dani Olmo will be able to play for them in the second half of the season despite missing the January 1 deadline to register him with La Liga. A statement from La Liga on Tuesday night said Olmo and his team-mate Pau Victor have subsequently been deleted from the club’s registered squad with the league.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick said he remains confident that Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor will be able to play for the club again this season.

Coach Hansi Flick is “not happy” but expressed confidence in Barcelona as the club continues to try to register playmaker Dani Olmo for the rest of the season despite missing an end-of-the-year deadline to clear salary-cap space.
