The NBA players have a new union president. At the annual summer meeting of the Board of Player Representatives, Fred VanVleet was elected President of the National Basketball Players Association. VanVleet succeeds former Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum who finished a four-year term in that office.

Houston Rockets point guard Fred VanVleet was named the NBPA president by his peers in a July 12 election, succeeding CJ McCollum.
