Sixteen teams in total make the NBA playoffs, eight teams from both the Eastern and Western Conferences. The top six seeds in each conference advance based on the regular season record. The final two seeds in each conference are wild-card spots based on the best remaining records in each conference.

Even when they're out of the playoffs, the Toronto Maple Leafs still seem to be catching a few strays from players around the league.

Peter DeBoer jokingly has referred to himself as being Finnish during these NHL playoffs. After all, he has five of the 13 players from Finland who are on the rosters of the four teams still chasing the Stanley Cup.

The New York Islanders have hired Mathieu Darche as their next general manager. TSN's Pierre LeBrun first reported the hire. Darche will succeed Lou Lamoriello, who had run New York's front office from 2018-19. The Islanders let Lamoriello go after they missed the playoffs this season.

The 2025 Stanley Pup will premiere in the U.S. on June 6 at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on TruTV, and NHL Network will re-air it on June 8 at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.

John Tavares is hitting NHL free agency again and should consider staying with the Maple Leafs or going to the Ducks or Sharks.

In the West, the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars are familiar foes, facing off for an opportunity to advance to the Stanley Cup Final for a second consecutive season. Both Western Conference powerhouses are competing in their third conference final across the last four seasons.

The Jets’ Kevin Cheveldayoff, the Stars’ Jim Nill, and the Panthers’ Bill Zito are the three finalists for this year’s Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award.
