The UK and Ireland are bracing for Storm Éowyn, with rare red weather warnings issued across Scotland and Northern Ireland, predicting gusts of up to 100mph (161km/h). A rare red alert for "very strong" wind has been issued for part of the UK ahead of Storm Eowyn. The alert, which covers all of Northern Ireland from 7am on Friday until 2pm, warns of "very dangerous conditions" and "widespread disruption".
