Once frowned upon in terms of so-called royal protocol, it seems selfies with the royal family are very much here to stay after Princess Charlotte took one with a fan on Christmas Day at Sandringham.

Kate Middleton, Princess Charlotte and more members of the British royal family came together for Christmas Day services in Sandringham, Norfolk, on Wednesday to celebrate the holiday. The Prince and Princess of Wales brought their three children to greet well-wishers for the morning’s festivities.

King Charles, Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and more royals walked to church this morning together.

Members of the British royal family exchange gifts every Dec. 24 — not on Christmas morning as many families do. As Prince Harry put it in his 2023 memoir, Spare, doing so is “a German tradition that survived the anglicizing of the family surname from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor.”

As Prince George gets older, he's being given more responsibility within the Royal Family. In 2024, George reportedly took over one particular Christmas tradition from his uncle, Prince Harry, who now lives in California.

The British monarchy kept some beloved holiday traditions alive this year, including its annual Christmas Day stroll. In a break from tradition, however, the family's holiday message was delivered from a hospital chapel with King Charles striking a personal note,

Kate was accompanied by her husband Prince William and their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis, as they joined King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Princess Charlotte’s Christmas Day began at church with the royal family in Sandringham. She made an appearance with her mother, father, and brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis, and the nine-year-old looked stylish in a navy-and-emerald plaid coat and green velvet hair bow,
