Bihar police on Thursday said a total of 25 people have lost their lives so far due to the consumption of spurious liquor in two separate incidents in Sivan and Saran on Wednesday, adding that 12 people had been arrested for their role in the hooch tragedy.

Bihar Excise Minister Ratnesh Sada said culprits will not be spared and an SIT has been constituted to probe the case.

Alok Raj, announced on Thursday that 25 people have died after consuming suspected spurious liquor in two separate incidents in the Siwan and Saran districts. In connection with the tragic event, twelve individuals have been arrested.

PATNA: The death toll of hooch incidents in Bihar’s Siwan and Saran districts has risen to 26, officials said on Thursday. While 20 people died after consuming illicit liquor in Siwan district, six lost their lives in a similar incident in Saran district.

Mukul Kumar Gupta said that 38 persons were ill with most of them admitted to Sadar hospital for treatment. Gupta has also issued show cause notices to excise officials
