The floodwaters hit the town of Monmouth in South Wales following amber weather warnings issued by the Met Office - as thousands in Ireland are left without power.

There were 50 flood warnings in place in England on Saturday afternoon. As the clear-up gets under way, a cold snap that could bring snow and “a marked wind chill” is expected in the coming days.
