The Georgetown women’s basketball team has been criticized by some for a Sept. 20 tweet mourning former player Sydney Wilson’s death at the age of 33, after video recently emerged showing Wilson was shot on Sept.

Georgetown University’s women’s basketball team is facing online backlash for honoring a former player who was fatally shot after attacking a Virginia police officer with a knife. Police released the body camera footage showing Sydney Wilson slashing a Fairfax County Police officer moments before he fatally shot her.

In the same breath, Wilson unveils a kitchen knife and lunges at the officer. Liu dodges Wilson’s first attack and quickly backs up.
