The Minnesota Twins and free agent first baseman Ty France have agreed to a one-year major league contract, according to a person with knowledge of the deal.

The former Mariners first baseman will be joining the American League Central club and will factor into the team's first base competition.

Ty France, signed to a non-guaranteed deal, gives the Twins another righthanded hitting option at first base.
