Stephen Colbert faced criticism after attacking ICE agents during his show on Monday by suggesting they were even worse than Nazis who were at least "willing to show their faces."

The "Late Show" host explained that he needs a new show because his wife Evie McGee-Colbert "will want me out of the house."

Colbert appeared on NBC’s Late Night With Seth Meyers on Tuesday, where Meyers jokingly blindsided Colbert with the news that his show had been cancelled. Following a dramatic spit-take, the two hosts got to talking about what life looks like when The Late Show ends on May 21.

The late night hosts suggested the move that appeared to be targeted at programs like 'The View,' 'Late Night With Seth Meyers,' 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' and 'The Late Show,' ending in four months, was less significant than it seemed in a fractured landscape and was more of an "attack on free speech.
