When former President Jimmy Carter entered hospice nearly 23 months ago, Habitat for Humanity International contacted every chapter — the Greater Salt Lake area chapter included — and asked them to build ceremonial walls to honor their most famous volunteer upon his death.

The San Antonio affiliate of Habitat for Humanity, one of the oldest and most active chapters in the nearly 50 years of the global affordable-housing network, is raising funds for a “tribute home” to be built this year in memory of President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn.

Following the death of former President Jimmy Carter, Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity and its international network will host a tribute next week to remember Carter and his long-time support of the organization.
