A man and woman are facing animal cruelty charges after deputies say they abandoned two dogs when they moved.

A 49-year-old Duson man faces multiple counts of animal cruelty after authorities say he shot and killed two dogs Friday morning in Lafayette Parish.

Emmett Antonio James Sherlock was arrested for allegedly abandoning and depriving seven cats and five dogs of food and water for about three weeks, resulting in the death of some of the animals.
