Parts of Georgia and Carolinas are digging out from a winter storm on Saturday after it produced heavy snow, freezing rain and ice across the region, knocking out power to hundreds of thousands of customers.

The snow may be over in north Georgia, but dropping temperatures in the next few hours will lead to dangerous conditions on metro Atlanta's roads and potential power outages.

Storm Warning is in effect for almost all of north Georgia, including all of metro Atlanta, from 5 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday.

North Georgia experienced a winter wonderland on Friday as several inches of snow blanketed the area. Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan says snow will continue in the mountains and occasionally mix with sleet through Friday.
