Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has taken a dig at England batter Harry Brook for his bizarre 'smog' excuse after failure in the first T20I in Kolkata.

Former Indian cricketer, Ravichandran Ashwin, has taken to social media to slam England's Harry Brook for blaming smog for his poor performance in the ongoing T20I series.

Prior to the 2nd T20I against India, Harry Brook said that the smog in Kolkata posed challenges for batters, making it difficult to see the ball coming from the bowler's hand.

Harry Brook, England's vice-captain, says that his team's hopes of combatting India's spin bowlers in the first T20I were hampered by an unusual but familiar foe to English touring sides - a thick layer of smog hanging over the ground in Kolkata.

England lost their opening T20I game by seven wickets in India, It was not a great beginning for England. For the chase, India rode their luck somewhat with a flying 79 from Abhishek Sharma and total of 133 runs in hand.

England’s Harry Brook has acknowledged the challenges he faced against spin in the first T20I against India, but also pointed to the “smog” in Kolkata as a factor in England’s underwhelming batting performance during their seven-wicket defeat.
