Houston is expected to be hit by heavy rainfall later in the week, with a slight risk of excessive rainfall on Friday in eastern and southern parts of the area. Regardless of development, showers and thunderstorms will likely move through southeast Texas.
The National Hurricane Center has highlighted an area it's watching in the Gulf. Right now, there's a low chance for development.
Hurricane center forecasters said the system, designated as Invest 93L, is forecast to continue moving westward and could emerge or redevelop.
Misleading TikTok videos gaining traction in Houston are falsely claiming a hurricane is forming in the Gulf and is set to strike the city, despite no official forecasts supporting that scenario. "STAY AND WATCH IT FORM, A BIG HURRICANE is coming to Houston," one TikTok user wrote on the platform. "Houston, should we start prepping? 7/20/2025."
HOUSTON — There will be isolated rain showers in Houston Saturday, primarily in the afternoon. Scattered downpours north of I-10, east of 45 in the afternoon. Focus areas: Livingston, Cleveland, the corridors of 59 and 69.
For Houston, the best chance to see rain will likely be Friday afternoon, especially between 4 and 5 p.m., as the edge of the tropical moisture moves closer. Forecast models show some scattered showers or a quick downpour for eastern counties, but overall rainfall totals are expected to stay light — perhaps just a half an inch to an inch.
