Some neighbours in Woking told police they did not hear anything out of the ordinary, but one recalled a “single high pitched scream which lasted a couple of seconds and stopped suddenly” two days before Sara’s death. “It sounded to her like the scream of someone in pain”, said Mr Emlyn Jones.

The father of a ten-year-old girl found dead at home in Surrey confessed to killing her in a punishment beating for being “naughty”, the Old Bailey has heard. Police officers found Sara Sharif ’s body tucked under the covers of an upstairs bunkbed, along with a note from her father Urfan Sharif confessing: “I killed my daughter by beating”.
