Soniyah Reed came off the bench to score 19 of her 24 points in the first half when Southern built a big lead that it was able to ride to a 68-56 NCAA Tournament First Four win over UC San Diego on Wednesday night.

The University of California San Diego women's basketball team lost to Southern University and A&M College Wednesday in the First Four round of the NCAA Tournament, 68-56.

Southern University led by as many as 21 points in the first half Wednesday night and held on to defeat the Tritons 68-56 at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles. UC San Diego’s season ended at 20-16 with only the Big West Tournament champion’s third loss in the last 12 games.
