TN weather fatalities reach 25; power outages persist
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is now reporting 25 weather-related fatalities across the state, according to a press release Wednesday morning. On Monday, TDH reported that there were six fatalities in Shelby County alone.
The Nashville office of the National Weather Service upgraded the winter storm watch to a warning ahead of expected snow and ice this weekend.

Trump administration grants emergency declaration for Tennessee to support winter weather response
Amid a winter weather event impacting all 95 counties in Tennessee, Gov. Bill Lee announced President Donald Trump has granted an emergency declaration to support the state's ongoing storm response.
Several East Tennessee schools will be closed on Monday, Feb. 2, after a snowstorm swept through the region on Jan. 31. The storm blanketed several inches of snow on Knox County and the surrounding areas. Schools are closed due to the impacts of the snow, plus extremely cold temperatures on Monday.

Photos capture winter weather in East Tennessee
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Winter weather has arrived in East Tennessee, with photos capturing flurries of snow that is expected to mix with sleet and freezing rain later in the day. Storm Team 6 is tracking the winter storm as it moves across the region.
The Tennessee Department of Health reported on Sunday three weather-related deaths in the state, including one in Crockett County and another in Haywood County.
The identities of the deceased have not been released, nor has the nature of their deaths.
