Investigators say a plane crash in San Diego that killed six people happened as the private plane approached an airport whose runway lights were out in heavy fog.

A small plane crashed in San Diego’s military area early Thursday, causing fires and multiple casualties amid heavy fog conditions.

The plane crash set fire to more than a dozen homes, though it’s unclear whether any injuries have been reported.
