Utah captain Clayton Keller went to the locker room a minute into the second period against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night after a puck struck him the face. A shot from teammate Michael Kesselring got deflected high and the puck struck Keller.

The Jets, who lead the Central Division by five points and sit second in the NHL rankings, came into Delta Center winning three of their last four games. Utah did not let the numbers get in its head and put forth a high-paced, even-keeled effort that earned it two more points in the Western Conference playoff race.

Dylan Guenther, who scored both of Utah’s goals on Dec. 20, is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury. Mikhail Sergachev, who had three assists in those two games, is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury. It’s unclear whether he’ll be ready to play Thursday.

Connor Ingram made 23 saves and tough defence carried the Utah Hockey Club in a 5-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night.

Despite the injury, Keller returned to help Utah win 5-2 against Winnipeg. Keller's resilience inspired teammates, contributing to Utah's offensive surge. The Utah Hockey Club captain had taken a puck to the face after Michael Kesselring's shot deflected off a Winnipeg Jet and beelined right above his right eye.

When they woke up on Monday, the Utah Hockey Club was 7-11-4 at home. Their Monday opponents, the Winnipeg Jets, were 13-8-0 on the road. Naturally, the second-place Jets were the heavy favorites in the game at the Delta Center.
