Connor McDavid scored in the second period and the Edmonton Oilers beat the Los Angeles Kings 1-0 for their second straight win.

EDMONTON -- Connor McDavid scored the only goal on his 28th birthday, and Stuart Skinner made 30 saves for the Edmonton Oilers in a 1-0 win against the Los Angeles Kings at Rogers Place on Monday. It was McDavid’s 72nd game-winning goal, tying Glenn Anderson for the most in franchise history.

The Los Angeles Kings continued their road trip with a stop in Edmonton to play the Oilers on Monday night (Jan. 13) in a huge divisional contest. This game was very sloppy throughout, with an abundance of missed passes which led to a lot of offsides and whistles.

The NHL Department of Player Safety fined Adrian Kempe for an incident with Connor McDavid in the third period of Monday's Kings and Oilers game.

Los Angeles Kings winger Adrian Kempe is getting fined by the NHL. Kempe is getting slapped with a $5,000 fine for slew-footing Edmonton’s Connor McDavid, per the league’s Player Safety office. Slew-footing is when a player uses their feet or legs to knock an opposing player’s feet from under them.
