Israeli authorities on Monday detained the military’s former top lawyer, accusing her of “serious criminal offenses” tied to the leak of a video that appears to show Israeli soldiers sexually assaulting a Palestinian detainee at the notorious Sde Teiman detention center.

The video of the abuse at the Sde Teiman detention facility was first aired last year by Israel’s Channel 12 and led to an investigation.

Meanwhile, the five soldiers charged with the violent abuse remain free in the community while awaiting their trial.
