Omar Abdullah was elected as the leader of the National Conference legislature party after a resounding victory of the party in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections.

President's rule was withdrawn in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, paving the way for the formation of a new government in the union territory. A gazette notification to this effect was issued by the Union Home Ministry.

The oath-taking ceremony for the new government in Jammu and Kashmir is set for October 16 with Omar Abdullah invited to lead by LG Manoj Sinha.

The Centre on Sunday revoked President's rule in Jammu and Kashmir before swearing-in ceremony of Omar Abdullah as the Chief Minister of the union territory. The Central Government issued a gazette notification in this regard.
