A Michigan mother who allegedly abandoned her three children and forced them to live in squalor alone for four years is being detained on a $250 million cash bond — a massive amount more commonly seen in cases involving high profile or wealthy defendants.

Kelli Bryant's children — a 15-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl — were found living in a "biohazard," police said.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald has charged 34-year-old Kelli Bryant with three counts of first-degree child abuse in the Pontiac abandonment case.
