Heavy rain has been forecast across Shropshire as Storm Claudia sweeps in, with warnings of travel disruption and winds exceeding 40mph.
Widespread flooding is likely across the East Midlands today after the Met Office upgraded its yellow weather warning to amber. The forecaster initially placed most of the region under a 24-hour yellow rain warning, in place from 6am on Friday (November 14) to 6am on Saturday (November 15).
By 3am on Wednesday (November 19), the 183-mile-long wintry band is forecast to push into England, affecting Northumberland, parts of Cumberland, as well as Durham and Tyne and Wear. According to Met Office maps, some areas - shown in dark grey - could see heavy snowfall of more than 4mm an hour.
