US envoy Steve Witkoff has met the families of Israeli hostages still held in Gaza, as fears for the captives' survival mounted almost 22 months into the war sparked by Hamas's October 2023 attack.

A source knowledgeable about ceasefire talks told CNN that a decision on the IDF's actions in Gaza will not be reached at the end of this week.
