Reports of alleged rape of a student on a college campus in Pakistan’s Lahore have triggered a furore. Protesters hit the streets to condemn the incident this week, clashing with the police. Pakistani celebrities have also called for justice.

Hundreds of students have protested since Oct. 14 in response to social media posts that said a woman was raped in the basement of a Punjab College for Women campus in the eastern city of Lahore. The demonstrators, who were mostly male students, smashed windows and burned school buses.
