Twins avert series sweep against the Rockies

The Twins enjoyed a stroll in the ballpark Sunday, waltzing to a 7-1 victory over the walk-happy Rockies. Colorado pitchers issued four leadoff walks — three by starter German Marquez — and Minnesota hit four home runs, denying Colorado a rare three-game sweep at Coors Field.
The Rockies are the lone team in the Majors who have yet to hold a team scoreless. For reference, the San Diego Padres lead the league with 14 and the second-lowest is the Baltimore Orioles and the Los Angeles Dodgers who have had three on the season.
Improving the swings of switch-hitting Rockies rookie second baseman Adael Amador was going to take time. And Amador made sure not to waste any of that time looking at his phone for a recall to the Majors.
Leslee’s side of the family has its own rich sports heritage. Her mom, Janice (Fenimore) Smith, played collegiate softball at Oklahoma State and Northern Colorado. Her younger brothers, Matt and Zach, were both high school football stars.
