The top-ranked golfer cruised to another dominant outing to claim the British Open. Scheffler, who entered the day with a massive four-shot lead, pushed it to seven at one point en route to his four-shot victory at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. Nobody even came close to catching him.

Scheffler is beginning to lap the field with his dominance on the PGA Tour, even drawing comparisons to a legendary racehorse.

Along with golf's oldest major trophy and the title of Champion Golfer of the Year, players were vying for their portion of a $17 million purse at the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.

Scheffler's father, Scott Scheffler, is from Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. He was a carpenter and stay-at-home dad throughout Scottie's youth, and he played a role in the star golfer's interest in the sport as a kid, including taking him to the driving range and with Diane, eventually getting Scottie access to Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas.
