Power outages hit more than 37,000 Southern California Edison customers in Los Angeles County Tuesday afternoon after a transformer failure in the Downey area, according to the utility.

Several neighborhoods in Downey, Norwalk and other LA County cities were experiencing power and water pressure issues on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24 after an equipment failure at a Southern California Edison substation.

Southern California Edison said a transformer failure Tuesday caused a major power outage in the Norwalk-Downey area.
