Warning: This article contains spoilers for Superman & Lois, season 4, episode 3, "Always My Hero." Superman & Lois didn't take long to bring Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) back from the dead in the final season — but one major character had to sacrifice himself in order for the Man of Steel to return.

The final 10-episode season picks up from the dramatic cliffhanger ending of season 3, which saw Clark battling with Lex Luthor's monstrous creation Doomsday. Said to be a loose adaptation of the Death of Superman comic, early reviews have described the opening episodes of this final run as both "dark" and "heartbreaking."

Superman and Lois Season 4 has already made use of some of Superman‘s greatest enemies. However, the appearance of Lex Luthor and Doomsday may just be the beginning. An off-hand remark by Lex Luthor may tease the arrival of yet another classic DC Comics villain.

Superman & Lois has four seasons available to watch, having aired 45 episodes, with eight yet to be released. Episode 3 of Superman & Lois will drop at 8:00 PM ET on Monday, October 14.
