Video from a Mount Washington Observatory webcam, which was obtained by Storyful, shows the avalanche started on Tuesday. The snowboarder is captured coming down a ravine just before the snow.

Initially, the event was difficult to discern from a distance, but as the camera zoomed in, the snowboarder could be seen outrunning the cascading snow.
