The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) announced on July 31 that it would start shutting down its operations following the current administration rescinding $1.1 billion in funding for the nonprofit.

PBS Charlotte is losing $1.2 million following federal funding cuts and will “continue to operate in the near term,” as it assesses the long-term impacts, a spokesperson told The Charlotte Observer.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting announced on Friday that it would begin winding down its operations after President Donald Trump rescinded $1.1 billion in funding for the nonprofit, which for decades has helped sustain NPR, PBS, and hundreds of local public media stations across the country.
