Stellantis intends to file more lawsuits against the UAW after a local chapter allegedly held a strike authorization vote without completing the required procedure steps first.

Stellantis NV said Monday that it filed nine federal lawsuits against the United Auto Workers and two dozen union locals late last week as it tries to prevent the union from calling a mid-contract strike over its delays reopening an Illinois assembly plant.

The automaker is suing the UAW and 24 of its local chapters around the U.S., saying a strike would amount to a breach of contract.

Stellantis has filed a lawsuit against the United Auto Workers union in a continued battle over their 2023 bargain agreement and the UAW's threat to strike.

A UAW local in southern California was the first to authorize a mid-contract strike against the company. It swiftly prompted a lawsuit.
