The body of a 12-year-old boy has been found after he was swept away by rushing water on a Virginia roadway, while a dozen students stayed overnight at a Maryland high school as heavy rains led to flooding in several states, officials said.
Parts of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic were slammed with multiple inches rain, triggering flooding across multiple states.
A flood warning was issued May 13 at 4:26 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. by the National Weather Service Baltimore MD/Washington DC Office. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
As Central Virginia continues to see rain in the forecast, a nonprofit in the city is asking residents to document where they may see standing water or flooding from stormwater.
NORFOLK, Va. — After rounds of rain on Tuesday, more showers and thunderstorms are likely this afternoon and evening. Combined with an already saturated ground, today's wet weather could once again result in flooding from heavy downpours.
