Hip impingement, or femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), occurs when extra bone growth on the hip socket or femur causes the joint to pinch and rub. This can result in symptoms such as hip or groin pain, stiffness, catching, or limited range of motion. For runners, the repetitive hip flexion and rotation inherent to each stride can exacerbate these symptoms, particularly during higher mileage or faster training blocks. Not all runners with FAI experience pain, but when symptoms arise, addressing
