Artist Erin Shirreff discusses the creation of her video work, Lake (2012). Working from a photograph of Lake Okanagan (the area she grew up in British Columbia, Canada) that she found in an early 1980’s tourist magazine, Shirreff builds Lake from a single found image. “The pleasure I think comes because you can create these really slow, unfolding moments,” says the artist in our “New York Close Up” film. “The seductiveness of something very slowly happening on a screen can be very mesmerizing.”
