I collected this tree bumblebee nest a few years ago, after watching them buzz in and out of my roof all summer. Once the nest was empty I took the tiles off and collected what I could, along with any little dead bees. These are my favourite bumblebee species, Bombus hypnorum. They're common in Europe but have only recently migrated over to England. They are charming little things that live in small colonies, nesting in trees (and occasionally roofs). I pinned them out, and then gilded their win
