This shot was a real mix of techniques. A 2D hand releases a 3D flower into a hand-painted stream. We then transition to a hand-drawn version of the same stream with a BG wipe, then hand off to a 3D starfield, wipe with a 2D FX transition into a 3D flower floating on a 2D stream... on a painted background.
